What does being
an independent country really mean? We have been one for almost fifty years and
how has it made a difference in our lives I would like to know. The Cayman
Islands remained a colony and when I look at what they have been able to achieve
I wonder if seeking independence was the right thing for us. Would we not have
gotten all the things as a colony that we have gotten as an independent country?
Would we have not gotten as much freedom
as the Cayman Islands? Would our economy not be as developed as it is today?
What exactly would we have lost had we remained a colony? How has Independence
benefited us, what are it’s rewards? How have we shouldered this responsibility?
Why did we want to be an independent
country? What difference has it made in our daily lives? How do we fulfill our
destiny as one independent people?
